Virtual Flexibility: Secure Working for a distributed workforce

In the UK, from 6 April 2009, an employees right to request flexible working in order to care for a child was extended to the ages of 16, or 18 if the child is disabled.  The subsequent natural increase in demand in flexible working, eg: working from home, is forcing companies in to a potentially difficult and misunderstood position.

With an increasing distributed work force, can UK or global companies, be sure that their data is always going to be in safe hands?
